Project request

For our long-standing customer Mastronardi, a specialist in greenhouse vegetable cultivation, VB expanded the existing heating installation with a snow and grow pipe system. The work was carried out on half of the total cultivation area of 26.2 hectares. With this upgrade, VB optimises the climate conditions inside the greenhouse and contributes to even higher crop quality, fully tailored to the customer’s requirements.

Challenge and approach

Two systems, each with three distribution pipes, were installed in both headwalls. The work involved additional challenges, as the greenhouse remained fully operational and tomato crops were still present. To avoid welding activities in the middle of the crop, the Ø35 Forca pipe was connected using compression fittings. Thanks to careful planning and customised solutions, VB completed the installation efficiently and without disrupting the production process.

Result and features

The completed expansion is a high-quality addition to the existing heating system. The upgraded heating concept gives Mastronardi greater control over the cultivation climate and contributes to more consistent heat distribution, higher crop quality, improved yields and increased operational reliability. As a result, Green Empire Farms now benefits from a future-proof installation that meets the demands of modern greenhouse horticulture.

From preparation to completion in an operational greenhouse

The expansion of the heating installation was carefully prepared and carried out while the greenhouse remained fully operational. Through smart engineering, customised solutions and tight planning, VB completed the installation without interrupting the cultivation process.
Step 1

Assessment and engineering

VB assessed the existing heating installation and the technical requirements. Based on this, a plan was developed for the expansion with a snow and grow pipe system.

Step 2

Planning around the crop

As the greenhouse was fully operational, the work was carefully coordinated around the existing tomato crop and the ongoing production process.

Step 3

Installation of distribution pipes

Two systems, each with three distribution pipes, were installed in both headwalls as the basis for the heating system expansion.

Step 4

Connection of Forca pipes

To avoid welding activities in the crop, the Ø35 Forca pipes were connected using compression fittings.

Step 5

Completion and commissioning

The installation was completed efficiently and now forms a sustainable addition to the existing system, resulting in greater control over the cultivation climate.
