"Since 2013, VB has heated approximately 157 hectares for Agro Care."Marco de Bruijne, VB Climate
Project request
Agro Care and VB have been working together on climate and greenhouse heating installations since March 2013. The first order concerned a 2.5-hectare new-build project in Tunisia. This was followed by several expansions and new locations in Tunisia, projects in Brécey and D’Isigny in France, and, at the end of 2025, greenhouse heating for the reconstruction of a phase in Middenmeer. In total, VB has heated approximately 157 hectares for Agro Care since 2013.
Challenge and approach
The projects call for installations that can grow with each phase and be adapted to the facilities available at each location. VB supplied boiler/burner installations, manifolds, expansion systems, connections to heat storage tanks, underground transport pipes, pipe-rail and grow-pipe systems, and CO2 installations. VB also contributed additional climate solutions, including cooling irrigation water with heat pumps, pad-and-fan cooling with a climate corridor, and a dehumidification pilot.
Result and characteristics
The result is a long-term, continuous partnership in which VB supports Agro Care step by step in growth and optimisation. The installations have been applied at existing and new sites in Tunisia, France and the Netherlands. A notable example is the fourth phase at the new site in Tunisia, where VB supplied not only the new boiler house but also the first heat storage tank for Agro Care in Tunisia. The partnership shows how technical expertise and continuity enable scalable growth.
