VB is proud to have been involved as a partner in this forward-looking project. As part of the new development, VB was responsible for the climate installation. With our climate technology solutions, we contribute to a stable and reliable environment in which research, breeding and demonstrations can take place under optimal conditions. Especially in a facility where various crops, trials and research conditions come together, a well-balanced climate plays an important role.

The Trial Centre Open Field focuses on more than twenty open-field crops, including various types of lettuce and brassicas, spinach and chicory. The location also provides space for selection plants, digital phenotyping, chicory trials, breeding trials and seed production trials. Modern technologies are also being applied, such as self-driving robots and a laser weeding machine. This creates a practical environment in which Rijk Zwaan can work together with customers and partners on themes such as resilience, efficiency, mechanisation and sustainable food production.

With this new trial centre, Rijk Zwaan has created a place where knowledge, technology and practice come together. A location that is ready not only for today’s challenges, but also for the questions of tomorrow.
